Tsae A-Ko Tsae A-Ko (蔡阿高) was the first known Chinese Protestant Christian.〔Horne (1904), chapter 5〕 He was baptized by Robert Morrison (the first Protestant missionary to China) at Macau about 1814. Morrison acknowledged the imperfection of this man's knowledge, but he relied on the words, " If thou believest with all thy heart ! " and then he administered the rite. From Morrison's diary the following was noted: " At a spring of water, issuing from the foot of a lofty hill, by the sea-side, away from human observation, I baptised him in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. . . May he be the first fruits of a great harvest." Amid such affecting circumstances the native Chinese Church began. ==References==
